Have you been feeling unhappy and unfulfilled in your life? How fulfilled are you in all areas of life such as health, wealth, career, relationships, spiritualilty etc.? Do you feel happy and satisfied? Or does everything in your life seem to be falling apart no matter how hard you try?
If you have been suffering from a lack of happiness, fulfillment or abundance in your life; it is a sign you not living your purpose. Allah has created each of us for a purpose. He will call you to your purpose through many signs and even warnings. If you fulfill your purpose you will feel happiness and fulfillment. If, however, you ignore the calling or procrastinate you will feel unhappy and unfulfilled. This feeling of unhappiness and being stuck should keep you searching for answers. You will only find true happiness and fulfillment once you have found your answers and acted upon them.
What is your purpose?
As Muslims we know that our purpose is to worship Allah. Though important, worship is not just actions like prayer and fasting. Worship is that deeper connection we have with Allah. Worship is that we understand that Allah didn't create us for nothing. He didn't create us to just work, have children, eat and drink and go after our worldly affairs etc.
Worship is to understand that Allah created us for a divine purpose. It is to realise that we have a mission on earth that we need to fulfill.
There is a mission that Allah has destined you for. Everything that has happened to you in the past was to prepare you for your mission. Everything that is going to happen in the future is to lead you toward your mission.
How to know what your purpose/mission is?
Knowing what your purpose is what will help you toward fulfilling your destiny and getting the life you want.
Here are three ways to find your unique mission or purpose:
Know your gifts
Use the obstacles you overcame to help others
Listen to the calling within you
1. Know your gifts
Each one of us was gifted with many gifts that we should use to serve Allah; through serving others. If Allah has gifted you with knowledge or wisdom or kindness or a talent or even wealth you should use these gifts to serve Allah's creation. Your mission starts by finding those gifts and using them to serve others.
2. Use the obstacles you overcame to help others
When we are struck by a calamity we are often overcome by sadness and we might even reject our Qadar. We may think it is all bad and not see the goodness in it. However, sometimes Allah sends us hardship to teach us to overcome these abstacles.
Once we have learned all the lessons we were meant to learn, we would have gained much wisdom through that difficult journey. It then becomes our mission to serve Allah by helping those who are currently struggling with that which we overcame.
3. Allah sends you a calling
Have you ever felt an inner voice telling you that you need to be doing something great in your life, or even change the world in a some way or start a new cause? Then, that may be Allah calling you toward your mission. You will feel this urge to start up something, or do something about a current problem or make a positive contribution in a particular way.
Allah has a plan for everything. He has aligned the right people for each mission. So, if you are being called for something answer the call. This is because you have it within you to do so. You will be given the knowledge and the tools to accomplish your task if you rely on Allah.
Why should you answer the call?
"Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of the people until they change what is within themselves." Quran (13:11)
If you are currently unhappy and unfulfilled you are probably not living the life Allah created you for. You are not fulfilling your purpose and hence you are not serving or worshipping Allah the way you were intended to. Therefore, you need to start searching for your mission, then you need to act upon it and serve others. Start today even if it's just with your intention. Then do actions toward your mission no matter how big or small. You will be rewarded with the happiness, fulfillment and abundance that your soul was yearning for.
The more you serve and act upon your mission, the more happiness, fulfilment and abundance you will find in this life and the next...
